About Me
-
Describe Yourself:An expatriate American writer of comics/fiction, and translator living in Japan.
I am currently published through Lulu @ lt;a href="http://www.lulu.com/dnafiction"gt;© Made in DNAlt;/agt;. I work in the sci-fi/cyberpunk/alternate reality genres. I have four works up, with more on the way, and am in fact, working on a piece for the Amazon Shorts contest.
My main website is lt;a href="http://www.mopedronin.com"gt;The Moped Roninlt;/agt; where you will find tons of writing on my experiences here in Japan. I've been living here for 8 years now. It's been quite a time.
I'm always up for new friends and acquaintances, so feel free to leave me a message or friend me.
DISCLAIMER: Most of the news articles I post about Japan are not by me, but they carry commentary BY me. Those not by myself are properly documented. If I have missed anything, let me know, and I will immediately rectify the situation or pull the article if I feel I cannot properly cite it.
The articles I post are posted not because of the sensation they could generate, but because they allow me to share an insight into Japanese culture that non-Japanese might not be privy to. You can learn a ton about a country and its culture if you read the news, but only if you know what you are looking for, and I am trying to point out those cultural avenues.
Also note, before you read my articles, I want to make two things abundantly clear:
1) I do NOT hate Japan. Quite the opposite, I love it. If I didn't, I wouldn't bother to live in the nation for nearly a decade, nor would I bother to document the news I do.
2) I do NOT think that my home country of America is better than Japan. America has its own unique news, and perhaps when I return to the US, I will start a page with a similar theme for Japanese people. But for now, I live in Japan, and I want to share with an English speaking audience to promote better relations.
Call it tough love. -

Interests and Activities:I'm a big fan of Asian cultures and countries. I enjoy touring and exploring everything from junkyards and red light districts to temples and shrines. Everything I see gets recorded by my either my cell phone camera, my digital camera or my digital video camera. I'm not a professional photographer, but I must profess a huge love of it. The odder or more out of place something is, the cooler it is. Flowers, animals and children have no place in my lens., travel, digital photography, urban spelunking, haikyo hunting (checking out abandoned buildings), games (board to video), reading, writing
